Short clips of highlights for week
Intro credits like last time
“Few days in our lives, can we live in a moment and realize that our lives will be headed down a different path.
Those days can take shape with the birth of a child, a wedding day, death of a loved one, or in this case, a one-way ticket to South America for an indefinite period of time.”
“the past week in lima has been a time of contrasts. the magnificent Spanish colonial mansions next door to miniscule, dilapidated shacks. New glass and steel skyrise condos shadowing the street’s beggars.”
French café: “walking the streets of lima’s beachside district, miraflores, I came across a small French café which beckoned me with promises of nutella crepes. I had no choice. Here I spoke with the owner of the café and she shared with me her love of French cuisine and her passion for brining a bit of paris to lima”
La bonbonnierre: “every culture has it’s idiosyncrasies which paint the beautiful portrait of it’s people and it’s food. Here at la bonnbonnierre, the people were happy to share a story behind a traditional pastry that is an integral part of a Peruvian celebration this time of year.”……. “apparently there are two stories behind this delicious dessert. However, there is no controversy that this confectionary concoction is not to miss in Lima.”
Protest: “all people have the desire to be heard. On Friday, the streets of san martin plaza filled with banners and chants of thousands of local public school teachers demanding a fair and livable wage. Speaking with several teachers through the afternoon, it was evident that they were incredibly passionate about teaching the youth of lima and that they loved their role in educating the future. They gathered to protest in the streets and demand that their government institute a minimum wage policy for the teachers of the country’s public school system, something that we often take for granted in the US.
Festival: “the streets of downtown Lima burst with the passions of the people: a boisterous and colorful crowd filtered past the hostel leading to a ecological festival promoting nature and love for your fellow man. The passion and culture shone through with the music, drums, and vibrant young crowd jumping and dancing to a south American ramon’s-esque punk band
